Norway
Norway is easily one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and the perfect stop on your Northern European adventure. With fantastic fjords, quaint villages and unspoilt wilderness, Norway is a destination of dreams. Check out our bucket list for some of the places you must visit!
Hike through Jotunheimen National Park
It's hard to beat Norway for mountainous scenery. With over 250 mountains over 2000 metres high in Jotunheimen National Park, this is the landscape of dreams. Whether you're looking for a one-day hike or a longer trek, spend some time in the heart of nature with mountains, lakes and rivers around you.
See the Northern Lights
Whenever you're heading to a Scandinavian country, this natural phenomenon must be on your list. Norway is one of the top destinations to see the Aurora Borealis, so don't miss them! They appear between September and March. Although the best views are found to the far north of the country, such as near Tromsø or the Lofoten Islands, you may still see the Lights from the easier-to-reach southern cities like Bergen.
Kayak in Geirangerfjord
Geirangerfjord is one of the most stunning fjords in Norway, so you won't get bored of it any time soon. Seeing the fjord from above is a must, of course, but then head down to Geiranger town to join a canoe tour. After gliding across the turquoise water, with raw nature around you, you'll never be the same.
Hike to Trolltunga
You've definitely seen a picture of this on Instagram. A sharp platform of rock, jutting out over silvery waters below. This is Trolltunga: an iconic rock formation and travel destination in the west of the country. Get the bus from Odda and start walking. It's an all-day hike, but trust us, you won't regret it for a second. Have you found your hiking boots yet?
Visit Bryggen
If you're staying in Bergen, you're in luck. The historical waterfront of Bryggen contains some of the city's oldest buildings and is a beautiful example of what Norway looked like in the Middle Ages. Wander along the front and visit the Fish Market, snapping photos as you go.
See the midnight sun, Tromsø
If you manage to get up to Norway's most northernmost parts, seeing the midnight sun in Tromsø is an experience you'll never forget. With a constant sun in the summer months, lose all concept of day and night and explore the city as much as you want.
Hike to Preikestolen
If Trolltunga would take too much time but you still want those views, try the hike to Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, in the south of the country. With the whole trip taking about four hours, you can spend plenty of time admiring the breathtaking views over Lyjsefjord from the elevated rock platform. Part of Norway's unique charm is its connection with nature, and up here, overlooking the water, you'll really feel it.
Ride on the Flåm Railway
We know you love a train journey, so why not combine sightseeing and train travel together? The Flåm Railway is one of Europe's most scenic train rides, passing fjords, mountains and river scenery. It takes only a couple of hours, so it's a good way to spend a rainy day!
Ride the cable car in Narvik
If you're heading up to Tromsø, take a short detour to Narvik, one of the most underrated ski resorts in Europe. If you're into skiing, that's a bonus, but if not, don't worry. Take the cable car up the mountainside at night for the most spectacular views of the Northern Lights.
Love the Lofoten Islands
The Lofoten Islands are challenging to get to, and worthy of a trip on their own. Picture breathtaking mountainscapes, calm waters and the Northern Lights across the sky. This is the land of beauty and raw, untouched nature. If you can get there at least once in your life, it will be one of your favourite memories ever.
