EuroNight

EuroNight (EN) trains are operated by various European railway carriers and offer an extensive overnight network throughout Europe. Sleep comfortably aboard a EuroNight train as you make your way to cities like Warsaw, Budapest, Zagreb and Berlin and arrive at your destination well-rested, with a whole day of exploring ahead of you!

Since the vast network of EuroNight trains is a cooperation between various carriers, they offer different types of products across each and every route. The same train usually includes multiple destinations to cover as many direct routes as possible in the most comfortable way. This is why certain trains are typically split up or combined at centrally located stations in Europe, such as Breclav, Bohumin and Salzburg.

It's the most timeless and romantic way of travelling Europe: in classic couchettes and sleeping cars that provide the ultimate Interrail experience.

EuroNight routes

With many routes to choose from, the EuroNight is a great way to travel to many destinations mainly in Central Europe, such as AustriaHungarySlovenia, CroatiaPolandSlovakiaRomaniaCzechia and Switzerland. It has accommodation options to suit everyone and takes you to some of Europe's greatest cities while you sleep.

EuroNight trains are often a collage of colours – they consist of carriages from multiple carriers. On some key routes, trains are branded with their own names. In the overview below, EuroNight trains are sorted by these names:

Reservations

Reservations on EuroNight trains are compulsory and sometimes dynamic (depending on the route). This means that they can differ based on availability and your specific route. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible, especially for travel in the high season (May - September). You can start making reservations for EuroNight trains 2 to 6 months in advance.

Travellers with a 1st or 2nd class Pass can book reservations in all the accommodation types mentioned below.

You can reserve your sleeping accommodation on EuroNight trains in the following ways:

Reserve EuroNight night trains through the ÖBB website:

  • Enter your departure/arrival stations, and the time/date of your desired journey

What is required once you board a night train

  • When you board the train, the conductors will ask to see:
    • Your Interrail Pass: You can just add the journey to My Trip and activate it before boarding. In the 'My Pass' section, simply tap on "show ticket" to show your QR-code during the inspection
NOTE: if you have a paper Pass, the conductor might keep it for the night and return it in the morning.
    • Your reservation: A mobile version is accepted, but you can print it out to be sure

Some EuroNight trains (on the route Zürich – Leipzig – Prague) have a seating carriage where seat reservations are not mandatory. You can still decide to book your reservations at an extra booking fee, and this can be done through the following channels:

  • Via our Reservation Service (€8)
