TGV high-speed train

The TGV is a high-speed train that operates all over France and beyond. Travel from romantic Paris to the shores of the Mediterranean or the vineyards of the Loire Valley. Visit cities such as Bordeaux, Lyon and Marseille or catch a movie in world-famous Cannes. The international TGV services connect France with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy and Spain. There’s also a service between France and Switzerland, operated by TGV Lyria.

The domestic TGV routes can get you to every corner of France. In the north, there are international connections to Brussels in Belgium and Luxembourg. In the east, the TGV can take you to the German cities Frankfurt and Munich. If you travel south, you can take a direct train to Milan in Italy or Barcelona in Spain.

Reservations

 

Reservations on the TGV high-speed trains are compulsory. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible.

Please note that international TGV trains offer a limited number of seats for Interrail Pass holders. Once these seats are taken you will need to purchase a full-fare ticket. We advise you to reserve the trains as far in advance as possible. You can start making reservations up to 3 months in advance.

The TGV is a comfortable train, offering power sockets, WiFi and an on-board bar. Reservation fees for the TGV are higher than average because they are the fastest option (travelling at up to 320km/h) between big cities and are, therefore, significantly time-saving.
