France
You'll never get enough of France. No matter how many times you've visited, there will always be another trip. Why? With its diverse culture, environment and activities, this famous country really does have it all. Check out our bucket list for some of the essential French adventures.
Climb the Eiffel Tower
Yes, it's touristy, but you've got to climb the Eiffel Tower at least once in your life. With incredible panoramas across the City of Light, we recommend heading up around sunset or after dark for the very best experience. Got something to celebrate? Grab a champagne from the Champagne Bar on the third floor, watching the sun set over Paris.
Watch the sunrise at Mont Saint-Michel
A magical island rising out to sea, with the sun slowly crowning its ancient abbey. What more could you ask for? Mont Saint-Michel will take your breath away at any time of day, but watching the sunrise really is a bucket list experience.
Visit the D-Day landing beaches, Normandy
On 6 June 1944, the largest naval, air and land operation in history took place across Normandy's beaches, a pivotal moment in WWII. Take the time to explore this coastline, to visit the many memorials and museums honouring those who lost their lives in the operation. Key sights include Pegasus Bridge, Omaha Beach, Arromanches and Juno Beach.
Photograph lavender in Provence
In the south of France, Provence is internationally-known for its breathtaking fields of purple lavender. Visit in June and July for the best landscape views and Instagrammable photos. Remember to respect the fields as farming property, and don't pick the lavender! Support local businesses instead, by buying their homemade lavender products.
Marvel at the Musée du Louvre, Paris
Whether you're a museum-lover or not, you need to visit the Louvre. It's the most visited museum in the world for a reason, you know. With over 35,000 pieces on display, this former palace contains some of the most famous paintings, objects and sculptures in history. You can easily spend a whole day here, so give yourself time!
Visit Versailles
Ah, Versailles. The king of all palaces, the queen of all gardens. Who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon wandering around this golden gem? Take the RER C train from Paris to discover Versailles' brilliant and troubled past.
Rollerskate along the Promenade des Anglais, Nice
The 7km promenade along Nice's seafront is one of the city's top attractions. After checking out the beauty of the Old Town, hire a pair of rollerskates to glide along this world-famous stretch.
Love La Petite France, Strasbourg
Strasbourg's iconic half-timbered houses and multi-coloured canal fronts can be found in La Petite France in the centre of the city. With its unique mixture of French and German culture, wander through the back streets of this medieval paradise, spotting where tanners, fishermen and millers used to work.
Follow a food tour, Toulouse
Let's be honest, here - you can't go wrong with food anywhere in France. But the southern city of Toulouse is famed for its delicious gastronomy, and you won't want to miss out! After traditional caussoulet and duck confit for your main, try a slice of fénétra: a local cake made with marzipan, meringue and lemon.
Visit the Christmas Market, Colmar
If you liked Strasbourg, you're going to love Colmar. Imagine narrow streets, colourful buildings and charm oozing from every corner. Now add Christmas decorations, market stalls and the smell of gingerbread in the air, and you've got yourself the perfect holiday. Colmar's traditional Christmas market is not to be missed and it's the perfect time to see the beauty of this lesser-known town.
