Why go Interrailing in spring?

Springtime is wine time in Hungary! Eger (2 hours from Budapest) has some of Hungary's best reds. Or you can head straight to the capital for ruin bars, thermal baths and gorgeous views.

 

How to get there

There are direct trains to Budapest from Austria, Romania and Slovakia. Budapest is also well-connected to other cities in Hungary.

The Netherlands

Why go Interrailing in spring?

The legendary King's Day on 27 April means street parties across the country, while the Keukenhof Gardens opens its doors annually in springtime to millions of tulips - a pretty cool sight even if flowers aren't your thing.

 

How to get there

Amsterdam has great train connections within the country and across Europe, including Germany, Belgium and France.

Sweden

Why go Interrailing in spring?

After a long, dark winter, Swedes happily welcome spring! Its arrival is marked by Walpurgis Night on 30 April with music and bonfires. You can also join the many park celebrations for a barbecue and drinks.

 

How to get there

The Öresund Bridge connects trains from Sweden to Denmark and the rest of Europe.

Slovenia

Why go Interrailing in spring?

Lake Bled is ridiculously pretty in spring, but you can also get adventurous by hiking, rafting and paragliding at nearby Triglav National Park and Soča Valley.

 

How to get there

There are trains to Ljubljana from Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and more. Bled is less than an hour away by train from the capital.
