Stockholm is an obvious contender for top night haven with world-class restaurants, bars and clubs littering the entire city. Another great choice to keep you entertained by night is a visit to Malmö. This buzzing city is sure to fuel your partying desires. Check out Lilla Torg – the pulse of Malmö’s frenetic night scene. Enclosed by a square of sixteenth- to eighteenth-century buildings are colourful and lively bars and rocking clubs.
Lila Torg is a 15-minute walk from Malmö’s main train station.
Coastline of Gotland
Great Gotland and Gothenburg
Gotland island, off Sweden’s south-east coast in the Baltic sea is a great place to visit for its pristine beaches, outdoor activities and its historical riches. The Museum of Gotland is home to Stone Age, Viking and Medieval treasures, as well as exhibitions of the islands diverse flora and fauna. Sweden’s second largest city Gothenburg (Göteborg) is another traveller’s treat. Check out the Liseberg amusement park for rollercoaster razzmatazz or learn something new at the Universeum. Also delve into the city’s past with seventeenth-century castles and fortresses dotted around.
Reach Gotland by ferry from either Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn on Sweden’s mainland. Liseberg amusement park is a 5-minute walk from Liseberg train station and the Universeum is a 10-minute walk from the same station.

For those pulled to Sweden for its insurmountable natural wow Abisko National Park is what you’ve been waiting for. Get lost in the spectacular northern wilderness in Sweden’s Lapland, meandering from Abisko down to Hemavan. For the super adventurous souls follow the 425-kilometre King’s hiking trail (or just part of the route!) and trek through this breath-taking alpine region. There are cosy little mountain cabins dotted along the route for you to take shelter and marvel at the star-studded Northern Lights.
Walking tours of the King’s hiking trail usually start from Abisko, which can be reached by train.

Stockholm, Sweden’s beautiful capital sprawls across an archipelago with a third of the city being made up of water. Be sure to get unparalleled views of Sweden’s sprawling city aboard a leisurely boat tour. Gamla Stan is the city’s old town and is a hit with visitors and it’s easy to see why. Here you’ll find Storkyrkan – Stockholm’s grand cathedral and the beautiful baroque Royal Palace – while there nip into the Treasury and lay your eyes on Sweden’s prized jewels.
Gamla Stan is a 10-minute walk from Slussen train station. Pick up a boat tour at the harbour outside the Grand Hotel, which is a 5-minute walk from Stockholm Karl XII metro station.

Swedish stunners
Visit Sweden’s dreamy Bohuslän coast, stretching north of Gothenburg (Göteborg). Savour this stunning landscape by boat, taking in some of the adorable islands and islets that are studded within this archipelago. The area is great for water sport-enthusiasts – kayaking, canoeing and scuba-diving are especially popular. As memorable experiences go, Lapland is at the top of its game. Where else can you go dog sledding or snowmobiling across snow-laden wilderness (possible October-April). And why not spend a night at the Ice Hotel!
From Gothenburg the train line runs along the coast, so it is possible to stop off at various points along the Bohuslän coastline. The nearest train station to Lapland is Kiruna.
